Ironically, Jobs are easier to enjoy than free time

Jobs have built-in goals, challenges and rules that produce (or approximate) flow experience (Flow occurs when you are challenged to the brink of your abilities in a meaningful activity with immediate feedback).

Flow experiences bring happiness. When it comes to free time, one is left on their own. It is easier to return to Passive recreation.

Enjoyment takes attention

We can experience pleasure without any investment of energy, but enjoyment takes effort.
